This was my first order ever. A bag for a three year old. And I went completely overboard — in the best way.
I picked the blue because I liked it. Simple as that. That soft, powdery sky blue just felt right and I went with it.
It took seven tries to get her right. The handle was the hardest part — it sounds simple but it wasn't. Getting it to sit right, look right, and feel sturdy enough took more rounds than I'd like to admit.
Then I thought about the inside. I lined it with satin fabric in the same shade of blue — because if I was going to make something, I was going to make it properly. A gold magnetic button closure keeps everything secure without being complicated.
And then I got bored.
So I added dark green vines creeping around the outside and purple crocheted flowers blooming along them. No deep reason. I just thought — why not? It was fun. The kind of detail you don't expect on a toddler's bag but somehow makes complete sense once it's there.
I never found out how she reacted when she got it. But I know how I felt making it — like I was figuring out exactly what kind of maker I wanted to be.
First order. Seven tries. Set the tone for everything that came after.
🌿 T-shirt yarn. Satin lining. Gold magnetic closure. Hand-embellished vines and flowers. Small size. Handmade.
